Principal's Report
Parent Information Night and Welcome BBQ
It was an impressive turnout of families at our Parent Information Night and Welcome BBQ, so much so that we promise to set up more chairs in the hall in 2025. Our new format of having supervision for the children during the whole school and class presentations was a great success. It was also a lovely opportunity to meet new friends and touch base with other families during our BBQ after the formalities. Thank you to Fr Anthony, our school leadership team, Michael Kelly, Ariana Strmota, Campbell Sloane, and our teaching and support staff for their preparation and contribution to a successful evening.
Parent Research Opportunity
As announced last night, please see the information regarding the research taking place on Friday 1 March. Interested parents are asked to contact Angela Kelley by the end of next week.
Classroom Refurbishments Update
The next stage of our classroom refurbishments will be commenced over the weekend with a team coming in to remove the Autex (pinboard) from Kindergarten and paint the walls, trims and ceilings. We hope for the work to be completed in two days, however, should there be any reason for the painting to continue into next week our Kindergarten class will be able to set up in our Classroom Support space. The plan is for pairs of rooms to be completed over weekends moving forward.
Reconciliation Action Plan Committee
As we continue our journey towards Reconciliation, we will be forming a Reconciliation Action Plan Committee to develop a Reconciliation Action Plan for our school community. A significant part of the Reconciliation Action Plan will be to develop a Reconciliation Garden to be landscaped on the grounds adjacent to our Community Garden Beds. If you are interested in joining our Reconciliation Action Plan Committee please contact myself or Karen Tozer.
2024 Semester Reports - Correspondence from Catholic Education
Catholic Education Canberra-Goulburn (CECG) has communicated to schools regarding reporting to parents/guardians. CE has advised schools that general comments will not be required on Semester 1, 2024 reports, but to prioritise Parent/Teacher Conferences for every family in Term 2. These meetings provide an opportunity to discuss your child’s progress, their strengths, challenges and future areas of focus. A Semester Report will still be sent home as in previous Semesters providing A-E grading and attendance information.
CE has advised schools that Semester 2, 2024 reports will have a general comment for all children. This general comment will provide a summative comment for the year, areas of achievement and areas to focus on for the following year. A-E grading and attendance information will remain as normal.
We would encourage all parents/guardians to engage regularly with their child/ren’s learning, connecting with their class teacher/s regularly to discuss learning progress.’
