Principals Report

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to Term 3. I hope you and your children had a restful break, and managed to stay warm! The school play equipment was painted over the holidays and it looks great! We also had the “spider web” lifted and straightened. The sandpit has been a great hit since its installation; the kids are loving it! (If you get a chance, wander around the back of the school and have a look).

Teaching staff were appreciative of the time families took to meet with them in the last week of Term 2. Communication between parents and teachers is so important. “Both parents and teachers have an important role to play; their roles do not replace but rather compliment and reinforce the other’s role, thus providing the student with a consistent message about learning. Thinking of parents and teachers as “partners” refers to this mutual effort toward a shared goal. It also implies shared responsibility of parents and teachers for supporting students as learners” (Christenson & Sheridan, 2001).

I would like to thank everyone who has recommended our school to potential families. We have a full Kinder class for 2019 and have enrolments in other grade levels across the school. “Word of mouth” has been the key this year, along with some strategic advertising through social media and our other platforms. At nearly all of my enrolment interviews at the end of last term, the resounding endorsement of our school came from current families. Thank you!

Working with Vulnerable People Cards

A reminder to all parents that if you are helping in the classroom you must have your WWVP card on you always. These cards are free for volunteers.

Grandparent’s Day Prayer Assembly

We look forward to meeting our grandparents on Friday morning. Our assembly will start at 9am, followed by morning tea. For our new families, I wish to advise that due to WHS regulations, the students are unable to attend the morning tea.  Special thanks to our Yr 2 parents for helping out with the morning tea.

BYOD

A letter will go home to our Yr 4 parents today regarding the BYOD program at STM. It is my intention to phase it out. The school will be providing a Chromebook to all Yr 5 students next year.
