Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to Term 3. I hope you and your children had a restful break. The teachers were in at school over the break preparing for Term 3; it promises to be an engaging and enjoyable learning experience for our students.

Education does not just have a secular purpose. This is especially so in our Catholic schools. Catholic schools need to talk about faith. Faith is taking in God and God’s word. We can make choices every day to find God, to listen to God and to acknowledge God.

The piece of scripture below, Jesus stills the storm, explains the meaning of faith:

And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. A gale arose on the lake, so great that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. And they went and woke him up, saying, ‘Lord, save us! We are perishing!’ And he said to them, ‘Why are you afraid, you of little faith?’ Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a dead calm. They were amazed, saying, ‘What sort of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him?’ (Matthew 8:23-27).

Faith is also about trust, in particular, trust in Jesus. To have faith is to have trust in Jesus who through the gift of his Spirit enables us to be the people God is calling us to be. To be a Christian is to have faith in Jesus.

Student illness

I would like to remind parents that If your child has any kind of illness, flu or cold like symptoms, they must not attend school. If a student is showing any signs of illness, parents and carers will be asked to collect their child as soon as practical.

Rostrum

Leah Shoebridge (Yr. 6) represented our school in the Rostrum finals last night. Leah now moves through to the semi-final after receiving the highest score. Congratulations Leah!

Defence School Mentor & School Chaplain

I would like to welcome Mrs Lisa Holl and Ms. Ariana Strmota to our school. Lisa will be our Defence School Mentor and Ariana our School Chaplain. Their hours will be confirmed this week and I will let you know once it’s sorted. Lisa will be in touch with our Defence families once her email account is in place.

Grandparent’s Day - Centred in Faith Gathering

We look forward to meeting our grandparents next Friday morning (July 23). Our liturgy will start at 9am, followed by a visit to the classrooms. Please RSVP through the link below if you have not done so already. At this stage it is unlikely that we will be able to provide morning tea due to the cautious restrictions placed on schools at the moment.
