Book Week
After reconfiguring this year’s Children’s Book Week into Term 4, the parade and author visit were a great success. Students were asked to dress-up according to the theme ‘Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds’. There were some very creative costumes, and I would like to thank everyone that participated. The teachers were involved and delivered a flawless performance before the parade based on the ‘The Unscary Book’ by Nick Bland!

The author visit was a highlight of the week. The children enjoyed participating in Shelly’s writing workshops and were delighted by her passion and enthusiasm for literature. Shelly talked to students about how she became a children’s author and where she gets her inspiration. Shelly shared with the students her writing and re-writing process through the editing stage as well her experiences taking a book through to publication.
During her interactive workshop Shelly read There’s a Baddie Running Through This Book! as inspiration to turn the students into mini detectives to help catch the Baddie. She read her book Blast Off! – and put the students through their paces as junior astronauts before taking them off on a space adventure.
It has been a great week! Thank you for your support of our school Library. Farewell STM. I will miss your smiling faces next year. Wishing all STM families a safe and happy Christmas.
