Parent Teacher Meetings
We hope that all parents enjoyed the opportunity to meet with their child's teacher last week following the distribution of the Interim Reports. Whilst we weren't able to gather in person, the feedback from our Community Council was that the meetings were a productive time spent between parents and teachers working towards the best educational outcomes for our students.
We thank the teachers of St Thomas More's for the additional time spent preparing for and conducting the meetings.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation
The Sacrament of Reconciliation was held last Saturday at our Church for 8 candidates from our school and 2 candidates from the school of religion. It was a lovely celebration with Fr Emil that was only made more special by the inclusion of other families from Year 2 who came to support the candidates and join the candidates in singing with Ariana Strmota, our School Chaplain. Ariana composed the recessional hymn that was sung by the students which made the celebration all that more special.
Thank you to all those in our parish who prepared the children for the Sacrament particularly Fr. Emil, Christopher Evans, Samantha Mance, Christine Washington, Ariana Strmota and Liarna Miller.

Sacrament of Reconciliation Retreat
Thank you, Father Emil, Liarna our Youth Minister, and Ariana our Chaplin for running our Reconciliation Retreat last Thursday. We are so lucky to be able to learn from your wisdom and experience here at STM. A number of staff were privileged to celebrate with the candidates on Saturday at the Reception of the Sacrament. A special thank you to Mrs Washington who prepared the children so well.
Journey with Jesus Retreat
On Friday our Year 5 and 6 students participated in the Journey with Jesus Retreat. The day was facilitated by our Youth Minister, Liarna and Luke Maher from Catholic Education. The retreat focused around equipping each child with a metaphorical ‘backpack of faith’ to take with them on the journey of life. Inside the backpack, they were introduced to some helpful tools they can pull out for the ups and downs, new beginnings and changes like starting high school.
Project Compassion
Please continue to fill your Caritas Project Compassion donation boxes. Tradition
ally when children were introduced to the season of Lent, there was an emphasis on “giving something up,” usually a favourite food or a favourite activity. Giving something up for Lent can help us focus on God and that depriving ourselves of something we like gives us an appreciation for all we have. It’s also a good idea to have the children do something positive related to what they’re giving up. For instance, if they’ve given up lollies for Lent, then they could take the money they would have spent on the lollies and put this money in the Project Compassion Box. If a child has decided to give up watching television one day a week, then they could use this time they would have spent watching TV helping someone or praying.
Stations of the Cross
On Friday 8th of April, the last day of term 1 our Year 5 and 6 students will present the Stations of the Cross. They will present images depicting Jesus Christ on the day of his crucifixion and accompanying prayers.
Yours in Christ,
Samantha Mance
