Welcome to Term Two.
We hope you all had a wonderful Easter with family and enjoyed commemorating ANZAC Day on Monday. I would like to thank all of those serving and past members of our Defence forces. Your commitment and sacrifice has enabled us to enjoy the safety and prosperity our lucky country provides us.
ANZAC Day Ceremony
Our ANZAC Day Ceremony will be held this Friday at 10:30 am in Holy Faith Hall. Students are invited to bring in the hats of the uniforms of their parents' or grandparents' who have or are serving. These hats will signify the great representation of the forces across our school. We are also pleased to welcome parents and guests to attend the ceremony in the hall with appropriate physical distancing in place. The children will receive a special treat at recess to mark the occasion.
Grounds Renewal Project
The students were so excited to enter the courtyard this morning to see how the Grounds Renewal Project has taken shape over the holidays. The library courtyard and sandstone walls have received an industrial pressure wash, we have 3 out of 6 new picnic tables in place and two freshly sprayed murals by local artist, Kurt from Stylised Impact. Kurt has created the two murals displaying our connection with Mount Ainslie and its surrounds. Grass Parrots and Gang Gang Cockatoos prevail in this area and we often see these birds flying overhead as we go out to play. They have now given our courtyard the colourful lift it deserves!
Look out for more murals coming throughout the term, including a community mural to be painted on our Feast Day on June 22.
COVID Update
Please ensure you have read the update which was distributed through Compass yesterday afternoon. We will continue to be guided by the most up to date health advice and will make necessary adjustments to mitigate risks should we have an increase in cases throughout the school.
Parent's onsite
With the new measures in place from today, we pleased to welcome parents and carers onto the school campus grounds for drop off and pick up and when attending permitted events. At all times parents are reminded to ensure physical distancing and COVID safe practices are adhered to, including not attending the school when symptomatic.
Cross Country Carnival
Our school Cross Country Carnival will be held next Friday from 9:00 - 11:00 am. We are looking for volunteers to support this event. Please lookout for a request via Compass.
Mother's Day Breakfast
Our Mother's Day Breakfast will be held on Friday, 6th May at 8.00am. The year 3/4 classes will be organising this event. See Community News for more details.
Enrolment Period
There are a number of ways that you can support our school as we head into the Enrolment Period for 2023 which begins next week:
Social Media: Have you seen our ad circulating on FaceBook or Instagram? We would love you to share, like or comment on our enrolling now ad or any other social media posts the school make.
Open Day Flyers: This week we will be sending home a number of copies of our Open Day Flyers for you to distribute as you see fit. You might like to go for a family walk and pop the flyers in letterboxes of young families, in the tea room at work or share them with local businesses, family and friends. This is a great way of sharing our wonderful school with those in the community.
Parent Advocates: Do you have a great story or sentiment about our school that we can share on social media and our website? We are looking for parent advocates who can help promote our school with enthusiasm and pride. If you have any words you would like published or are interested in helping please contact me.
Preschool Aged Siblings: We would love our families with Preschool aged children to come for a tour at one of our Open Days. This is a great opportunity for your preschooler to begin the transition to school and see all the exciting things their sibling encounter everyday. If you are a current family with a Kindergarten enrolment for 2023, please email Julie at the front office to book in for one of our Open Days.
NAPLAN TIMETABLE
The NAPLAN Timetable has been published on our school calendar which can be accessed via the school website and Compass. Students in Years 3 and 5 will set the tests on the following days:
Writing: Wednesday 11 May from 9:00 am
Reading: Thursday 12 May from 9:00 am
Conventions of Language: Thursday 12 May from 11:30 am
Numeracy: Friday 13 May from 9:00 am

Staff Spirituality Day
Yesterday the staff gathered for our annual Spirituality Day where we examined the Parable of the Lost Coin and revisited our agreed practices around Christian Meditation. We were fortunate enough to be joined in the afternoon by Father Emil who facilitated a session on Ignatian Spirituality and led us in an ‘Examination of Consciousness’ Prayer Experience.
Sacrament of First Holy Communion
An information session will be held for those students interested in preparing for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion after the 9:30 am Mass at St Thomas More’s Church on Sunday 15th of May. Reception of the Sacrament of First Holy Communion will take place on Sunday 19th of June at 9:30am.
