We look forward to gathering on Friday morning to celebrate our Mothers Day Breakfast and hold our annual Cross Country Carnival. Unfortunately, I will be an apology for the events as I have been invited to be part of an expert panel at the Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher Summit for teachers across Australia. Whilst this is a wonderful opportunity for St Thomas More's to be recognised on a national scale, I will miss spending the morning with our wonderful community.
Here are the reminders for the start of term:
Carpark Safety
There were significant concerns raised within our Kindergarten parent group last week around the safety in our carpark. Please ensure you:
- Abide by the 10km per hour speed limit at all times
- Give way to all pedestrians, particularly when reversing
- Ensure you are parked within the parameters of the parking space
- Accompany your child at all times when moving through the carpark.
We are currently receiving quotes from traffic engineers to redesign the carpark to include a turning circle and designated drop off/pick up area. If you would like to reduce the safety risk for your child you are welcome to arrive from 3:10 of an afternoon.
Uniform Reminder
It is wonderful to see the green trousers on sports days; however, we would ask parents to continue to abide by the uniform policy have seen an increase in students wearing joggers with the school uniform, jumpers and cardigans that are not school uniform and accessories like nail polish, large bows in hair and jewellery. Below is the excerpt from our policy:
General Appearance
Children are expected to be neat and tidy at all times
- Jewellery, other than a watch, is not permitted. For safety reasons, if ears are pierced only plain gold or silver studs may be worn at school.
- Inappropriate hairstyles are not acceptable. Shoulder length or longer hair must be tied up.
- Nail polish is not permitted. Children will be sent to the office to remove nail polish worn to school.
