Support our Children to Grow
As we enter the middle of Term 3 we would like to reiterate the importance of strong school and family partnerships. Term 3 is often a time when students require additional support in their social growth as small problems can occur that accumulate to a bigger concern. To ensure we are able to support the children's growth, we are encouraging you to discuss the importance of being an upstander with your child at home.
At St Thomas More's we spend time empowering all students to be upstanders, who communicate with their peers when a problem has occurred, stand up for peers if they feel they have been the victim of a problem and seek assistance from staff to support shrinking problems.
We would encourage you to contact the classroom teacher if you feel your child is needing more assistance with being an upstander. Our Pastoral Care and Wellbeing policy can be accessed here: https://www.stmore.act.edu.au/pastoral-care-policy
Science Fair
The hall was a buzz of discovery and exploration on Friday as we opened our annual Science Fair. There were over 20 entries ranging from experiments with slime, diagrams of our Solar System, exploding volcanoes and much more. Thank you to the parents and students who took the time to submit an entry. We also thank Abigail and Keren from our Community Council for coordinating the event.
Colour Run
We are hoping to launch our Colour Run next week; however, we have not received any sponsors from businesses linked with our community. If you know of a business who would be willing to sponsor our Colour Run or have time to reach out to local businesses, please contact the front office.
Boorowa Touch and Netball Carnival
We are hoping to split one of our 3/4 Netball Teams into two for the upcoming Boorowa Touch and Netball carnival. If your child in 3/4 is interested in attending this exciting day please reach out to Olivia O'Donnell.
